Diesel Engine Water De 500 HP
A new V12 diesel engine aircraft has been flight-tested successfully. This is RED A03 engine produced by the German company RED Aircraft. The V12 engine is a DOHC water cooled and oil with common rail direct fuel injection. The propeller moves through a system of reduction gears and the engine has a compression ratio of 16.5:1. The first flight tests were conducted on a modified Yak-52 plane that was presented in the exhibition of AERO 2010 in Friedrichshafen.
RED Aircraft Company is based in the city of Adenauer in Germany. These first engine tests were limited to the scope of the system of ground-based telemetry. The engine generates 370 KW (500 HP) takeoff power with 3900 RPM. The consumption of diesel or Jet A amounted to 220 g/ kHz.
RED Aircraft says the V12 weighs 320 kg in total which includes two alternators, the gearbox, the oil radiator and propeller Governor. The objective of this engine, as the German c, is to be a bridge between the classic piston engine turboprop aircraft and high cost.
